10 Years & 1 Day

Yesterday my wife, Sarah, and I celebrated our 10-year wedding anniversary! We are on the beach in Belize paddle boarding and snorkeling with our great friends Jeff and Ann Santomango. I am a very lucky man in so many ways.

As I like to say in my trainings, “no matter what age we are, human beings thrive in healthy relationships.” Having Sarah in my life for the last fifteen years, ten as my wife, provides me with the stability and support to create a career where I get to live out my passion each and every day.  No matter where I am in the country, knowing that when I call home that night, I will talk to someone who loves me and cares about the work I do. It sets me up for success in whatever crazy endeavors I decide to take on.

Starting your own business, writing books, public speaking, and fighting for social justice feels like a roller coaster with intermittent episodes of terror and exhilaration. Sarah’s strength and love are like the pause at the end of the ride where I get a moment to breathe and recover before taking on the next big challenge. I do a great many things to practice self-care, marrying Sarah was the healthiest thing I ever did.

After over a decade together, I could not imagine life without her love and support. There is no way I can predict where life will take me the next ten years. Where ever I go, knowing that I’ll come home to Sarah, makes it even more exciting. I can’t wait to see where our trip will take us! Happy Anniversary my love!!
