Welcome!

Welcome to the initial blog post of Matt’s Mumblings. This post has been a long time coming and I want to thank all the people around the country that encouraged me to get my material and thoughts up on social media. If you are getting this blog, you have either signed up for it at one of my recent trainings or I think I know you well enough to think you will be interested in my ranting! Thanks to my recent trips to Massachusetts, Portland, Hawaii, Chicago and Denver we already have a community of innovative helping professionals that spans both thousands of miles and a variety of professions and backgrounds.
It is my great hope that this space will give this growing community a place to learn and think of new innovations we can bring to our work with our clients, patients, communities and systems of care. My professional mission, and the mission of this blog, is to make the helping professions the most efficient and effective industry the world has ever seen. Okay…if you have stopped laughing…you know that for most of us we have a long way to go on many fronts to realize such a crazy vision. My question to you is…shouldn’t we at least give it a try and have some fun doing it?
I think we can all name a thousand reasons why the helping professions will never be as effective or efficient as our peers in other industries: money, resources, issues facing our clients and communities are just a few that pop into my head. All these reasons, however, pale in comparison to the one reason to pursue it…giving the best services possible to those we serve. People who come to us seeking help deserve the best we can possibly give them.
So let’s see where this goes. Let’s learn and push each other to think differently and creatively. Let’s support each other and build a true learning community dedicated to excellence. And most importantly, let’s have a blast doing it!
My first post will come shortly…let’s all take this first important step together.
Matt
